Who Is Punkin?

Hello, welcome to Punkin's Acres. Who am I? My name is Ella. My nickname is Punkin. I have often been asked why Punkin? Well...I love pumpkins, Autumn, the fairy tale Cinderella and my birthday is October 24th. Need I say more? I am a native Texan, college graduate, Christian, left-handed, 49 and holding woman. My ancestors were German, Irish, English, Scottish, Dutch and Cherokee.

I am a friendly, honest, and open-minded person. I prefer my company in small groups. I don't talk a lot, though I will join in if I have something to say. I prefer to express myself through writing. I have been told that I am too nice. I don't think you can ever be too nice. I like to think the best of a person and strive to find something to like about most people I meet. I am soft-hearted, open-minded, and very patriotic.

I wish to use this website to share my thoughts with my friends. I will have a space to list my favorite songs of the month and another space to discuss any one of my favorite things. Here is a list of a few of my favorite things: Music - particularly Country(all genres of Country, but mostly progressive, leaning a bit towards rock and the softer, romantic ballads): chocolate: cats (I love all animals, but favor mostly cats and dogs): Family: old country roses: Texas: Autumn and Halloween: Rain: the late Victorian era: Color Analysis: Clothes: Mystery novels: Romance novels: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: Laughter: Colors - aquamarine, turquoise blue, hunter green, forest green, sage green, chocolate brown, burnt orange (pumpkin), deep red, ivory, violet, coral pink : Snow: Christmas: Dreams: Books: Antiques from the late 1800's through 1910: English comedies: Irish folklore: Dream analysis.

So, take off your shoes, brew a cup of tea and sit awhile and visit with me. -Punkin

Punkin's Musical Musings

I've recently heard a song called "Pray For You" by Jaron and The Long Road to Love. The song theme - love gone wrong - reminded me of an old song by Little Jimmy Dickens entitled "May The Bird of Paradise Fly Up Your Nose".  Many of you that will be reading this probably have never heard the Bird of Pardise song - but it was a hoot and I had it memorized when I was a kid. The "Pray For You" song also reminded me of these three songs:  "Lover, Lover" by Jerrod Nieman, "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood and "Do You Want Fries With That" by Tim McGraw. You know, country folks aren't all serious all the time, but they do take heartbreak and cheatin' seriously "wink".  Give these songs a listen ~especially if you've recently experienced heartbreak, been disappointed by a lover or, hey, if you just want to take a few notes on what to do next time you are in the same "fix". :) ~Punkin 6/6/10

Punkin's Picks

I love Country Music. My husband says I'm obsessed! Have you ever really loved something so much that it becomes a part of your life? That's the way I feel about music. I believe that my life would be pretty boring without music. I'm actually fond of many types of music, but I find that Country speaks to me. I love to sing and Country music is easy to learn because I can hear and understand the lyrics. Of course, I couldn't write about my love of Country music without putting in a "plug" for my favorite radio station -" KBCY 99.7 FM" -  Texas' Best Country and the Number One station in the BIG COUNTRY and JB Cloud - award winning DJ with Texas Country music!
