PUNKIN'S ACRES
Who Is Punkin?
Hello, welcome to Punkin's Acres. Who am I? My name is Ella. My nickname is Punkin. I have often been asked why Punkin? Well...I love pumpkins, Autumn, the fairy tale Cinderella and my birthday is October 24th. Need I say more? I am a native Texan, college graduate, Christian, left-handed, 49 and holding woman.
I like to think that I am a friendly, honest, and open-minded person. I prefer my company in small groups. I don't talk a lot, though I will join in if I have something to say. I prefer to express myself through writing. I have been told that I am too nice. I don't think you can ever be too nice. I like to think the best of a person and strive to find something to like about most people I meet. I am soft-hearted, open-minded, and very patriotic.
I wish to use this website to share my thoughts with my friends. I will have a space to list my favorite songs of the month and another space to discuss any one of my favorite things. Here is a list of a few of my favorite things: Music - particularly Country: chocolate: cats: Family: old country roses: Texas: Autumn and Halloween: Rain: the Victorian era: Color Analysis: Clothes: Mystery novels: Romance novels: The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: Laughter: Colors - aquamarine, hunter green, forest green, chocolate brown, burnt orange (pumpkin), deep red, ivory, violet, rose pink : Snow: Christmas: Dreams: Books: Antiques from the late 1800's through 1910: English comedies: Irish folklore: Dream analysis.

Punkin's Musical Musings
We were given a Casio electronic piano several months ago. I sat down and played at it for a while yesterday. It made me realize how much I miss sitting and playing the piano, though I wish it was a real piano. I have a few regrets in my life and one of them is that I didn't go ahead a bring home my parent's old Steinway when my step-Dad offered it to me. At the time, we were in a small apartment and there simply was nowhere to put it and we had no way to get it to us. So, I stupidly told my step-Dad that he could sell it if he wanted to. Of course, he sold it to a cousin and I've regretted it since. That old upright Steinway was a bargain when my folks bought it. It had belonged to a local music teacher that was going to sell Baldwin pianos on the side. The Baldwin representative told her she'd have to get ride of the Steinway, so my folks picked it up for a fraction of it's worth. I spent many years playing on that piano and I have my old piano teacher to thank for the lessons. Her name was Mrs. Chandler and she lived in a neighboring town. She believed that everyone should be able to afford music lessons and only charged a penny a minutes. I took four years of piano with her and one year of voice. She was a sweet little old lady (in her 70's). As I sat at the Casio yesterday, I wished I had kept up with playing the piano over the years, unfortunately, it is not like riding a bike - it takes practice. So, while I'm on vacation this week, I intend to play a little every day and hopefully I'll keep in practice. ~Punkin 6/19/09

I love Country Music. My husband says I'm obsessed! Have you ever really loved something so much that it becomes a part of your life? That's the way I feel about music. I believe that my life would be pretty boring without music. I'm actually fond of many types of music, but I find that Country speaks to me. I love to sing and Country music is easy to learn because I can hear and understand the lyrics. Of course, I couldn't write about my love of Country music without putting in a "plug" for my favorite radio station -" KBCY 99.7 FM" - Texas' Best Country and the NEW Number One station in the BIG COUNTRY! Woo hoo!
